Southern Prairie RailwaySouthern Prairie Railway did their all day train ride Oct 4, 2014.  We left Ogema and went the eastern route to Pangman.  Enroute we had a buffet breakfast.  It was a cool cloudy day, but not rainy.  We left Pangman and did the western route all the way to Willows.  We were served a lunch of sub sandwiches, chips and assorted drinks. There were numerous snacks throughout the afternoon–even a birthday cake for one of the passengers on the train.

Visitors that day numbered about 40 including the staff. They came from many places: Regina, Radville, Davidson, Fife Lake, Sylvan Lake, Beuna Vista, Grenfell, MossBank, Assiniboia, Bengough, Horizon, MacGregor–Manitoba, Detroit & Bavaria-Munich, Germany. This is the end of their third season and in total there have been over 10,000 passengers.

We returned to Horizon in time to see the elevator which still is in very good standing and the history with it. The evening meal was served in the Horizon hall. The meal was chicken & ribs, complete with desserts and the evening ended with a performance from “Elvis” from Assiniboia.

The round trip is about 13 hours with lots of time to visit and enjoy the country side you never see from the road. There were numerous wild animals: 2 groups of deer, lamas, fox & coyotes.

I was pleased to ride this venture as a birthday gift.
