South Prairie Railway Informational Meeting

The Pangman Economic Development Board and the Pangman Rec Board sponsored the Southern Prairie Railway informational meeting on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at the Community Centre. Guest speaker was Cheryl Generous, CEO of South Prairie Railway.

Cheryl presented a slide show with information on the South Prairie Railway plans. They are planning to have Theme Trains, including a Pioneer Train, Stargazer Train and Pitchfork Fondues and Train Robberies (all money from the Train Robberies will be donated to charity. They also hope to rent out the train for private events like weddings.

The train will run on Saturday, Sunday and on Long Weekend Monday’s from May to October. The train will start in Ogema and visit Horizon and Pangman. Their motto is “Pulling the Past into the Future”.

To have the train stop in Pangman we will need to build a wheelchair accessible platform and have some events for the tourists to see, ie Farmers Market. The train will stop here for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Following the presentation Cheryl answered questions about the Train. Coffee and Donuts were served.

For more information about South Prairie Railway visit their website at www.southernprairierailway.com and read more about the trains on their blog.

First Farmers Market of 2011!

On June 25th we held our first Farmers Market for 2011. As well, we had a Community Garage Sale Day with about 5 garages sales around town.

It was quite nice for most of the morning, but close to noon it started to rain, again.

There were quite a few vendors at the market selling a variety of items, including: garage sale items, homemade pies, pizza, Norwax, Avon, books, crafts and “Pangman Puddles”, a delicious deep fried bread dough in the shape of “puddles”.

Quite a few people were out for the Market. The Pangman & District Economic Development Board sold 50/50 tickets and provided coffee.

The Farmers Market will be held every Saturday from 9 to noon until Thanksgiving Weekend (October 8, 2011) and is sponsored by the Pangman & District Economic Development Board.

We hope to see you there.
