Pangman School News!!

February is almost over, which means that the school year is already half over. The high school students are finished writing midterms and finals and semester two is underway.

On February 9th the students went on their annual ski trip to Mission Ridge. On February 10th, Luc Mullinder from the Saskatchewan Roughriders spoke to the student body about the Red Cross program called RespectEd. This program deals with bullying and treating others in an appropriate manner.

On February 23rd, the Saskatchewan Fencing Association will be out to do a fencing clinic at the school.

On February 23rd remember to dress up as an animal for a treat and to earn points for your team.

Craft Bazaar at Pangman School December 5th.

Be sure to visit the Craft Bazaar at Pangman School on Saturday, December 5th, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Looking for some unique gift ideas for Christmas, the Craft Bazaar has many hand made items from local crafters. Also, the Grade 12 class has a table of items to help raise money for their Graduation.

And, if you lucky you may even see Santa there later that day, as he will be visiting the children at the Santa Day events also being held in the school.

Pangman School Clothing Orders Due October 29th

Pangman School clothing orders are due on October 29th.

Anyone who is interested in purchasing a t-shirt, sweatpants or hoodie with a Pangman School Panther logo on it should contact Sabrina Quigley by phone at school (442-2051),home (442-2005) or by email sabrina.quigley@cornerstonesd.ca.

All products are made by Gildan and will be black with a yellow logo on it.  The prices are very reasonable and include tax, shipping and silk screening.

Prices are as follows:

  • T-shirt – $8
  • Sweatpants – $14
  • Hoodie – $16

Pangman School Open House!

Pangman School Open House
Monday, October 19
5:30 pm – 7:30pm

The SRC will be selling hamburgers, chips, pop and dessert from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

There will be a demonstration of the Smart Board in the technology room.

Magazine subscriptions will be available to purchase.

All parents and community members are welcome to attend the Pangman School Open House.

Pangman School News

The first Pangman School Newsletter for October 2009 was sent out recently. You can read the entire  Newsletter on the School Website.

Some highlights from the School Newsletter:

  • Karen Schwindt has taken over the Administrative Assistant position when Kerrie Johnson accepted a new position at Ogema School.
  • Connie Lozinsky has taken on the role of School Librarian and will be a great addition to the staff.
  • Megan Hughes is here until December doing her internship.
  • Senior girls volleyball has had a great start to the season.   The team consists of seven girls from Pangman and five girls from Ogema, with Miss Hughes acting as coach and Mrs. Warren acting as manager.  The team practices Wednesdays after school until 4:30 and Thursdays after school until 5:00 p.m.
  • The Junior Boys Volleyball Team is made up of boys from Grades 5-9 this year.
  • The SRC will be hosting Panther Pride Day once again on the first Friday of each month.  Dress in yellow and black to show your school spirit and earn points for your team.
  • Mark Penny is the school based counsellor who is assigned to Pangman School. He is scheduled to work with students at Pangman School on Fridays.
  • New students: Anna, Margarita, Corny, Anna, Ava, Shayndel, Brandon, Cameron, Johny, Sean, Dayna and Kelsey .
  • Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 18th. The students raised $1043.89 in pledges.
  • Annual Open House on Monday, October 19th.
  • The Grades One and Two class is once again walking to the Deep South Personal Care Home to read to the residents once a month.  The students and residents both enjoy their time together.  The next Care Home visit will be on October 14th.
  • The Kindergarten, Grade One and Grade Two class enjoyed a wonderful camping themed story time at the Pangman Library on September 11th.  Their next library visit will be on October 23rd.
  • The Grades 1 – 12 students will attend a presentation of Peter Pan at the Globe Theatre on November 19th.
  • The students will once again be selling QSP magazine subscriptions.  The magazine fundraising campaign will be held in October this year in order to accommodate those who would like to order a subscription as a Christmas gift for someone.  This was a very successful fundraiser for our school last year!
  • The Little Munchkin Playschool group is meeting once again on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  For more information please contact Robin Larson.

New School Playground Equipment Has Arrived!

For the past year or so the community has been raising funds to purchase new school playground equipment. On August 21st, the new equipment arrived and with the help of volunteers was assembled.  What a great addition to the school playground!

School Children Enjoying Afternoon at the Pool!

On September 3rd, Grades 1 to 5 enjoyed an afternoon at the Pool, and on September 6th, Grades 6 to 12 also enjoyed an afternoon at the pool.

What a nice break from the classroom.
