Pangman School News!

The Elementary Track Meet was held in Ogema on June 8th. Due to the rain, track was held indoors at the School.  Pangman, Ogema and Wilcox Schools attended. Medal winners and first place finishers for this year were John Friesen, Hayley Lillejord, Natalie Lillejord and Jacey Rowland.

High School students had Districts in Weyburn on May 28th.  Medal winners there were Payton Nyhus, Jacob Beres, Traegan Quewezance and Shelbi Rowland.  Shelbi advanced to Provincials held in Moose Jaw on June 4th & 5th where she beat her personal best in the 200m.  Traegan Quewezance, Brea Nyhus, Hayley Kimball, Jacob Beres, Noel Muckalt and Brittinay Rowland all finished in the top 3,  Brittinay Rowland set a new district record in discus.

Mr Fowler’s sister Rhaea, has set a new World Record in Power Lifting (Bench Press), lifting 155.5 kg!  The students were lucky enough to watch this lift via live feed. Congratulations to Rhaea!

On another note, the students of Pangman School would like to thank the School Community Council for purchasing another smart board for Mrs Warren’s room.  That is a total of three (3) smart boards for Pangman School.

Community Centre Gets a Face Lift!

Last week the Community Centre was painted and a new sign was installed.

Thanks to Jim Taylor and his helper Lorrie Dunn who painted and installed our new sign at the Community Centre.  Also thanks to Merlin Broughton and Rod Rowland for helping out.

Abundant Living Ministries 25th Anniversary!

On Saturday, June 26th and Sunday, June 27th, Abundant Living Ministries celebrated their 25th Anniversary (1985-2010).

On Saturday evening at the Ogema Church there was a barbeque, music and special speakers. On Sunday at the Pangman church was worship with greetings from the Village of Pangman, the Province of Saskatchewan, the Government of Canada  and other guests.  At noon was a Potluck Dinner and a closing rally was held at 2:00 p.m.

Happy 25th Anniversary Abundant Living Ministries.

Fundraiser Walk for Diabetes!

On Sunday, June 27, 2010 was the 5 km fundraiser walk for Diabetes. It was a beautiful morning for the walk. Fifteen (15) or more people turned out to walk and over $1,200.00 was raised for Diabetes research.  We hope that we can make this a yearly fundraiser to help family and friends who are living with Diabetes.

Thank you to Wendy Colbow and family for planning this fundraiser. Also thanks to all those who came out to walk, the Ambulance and Fire Department, the Recreation Board, the Co-op and to the community for all their support.

Swimming Pool Open!!

The swimming pool is now open.

Hours:

  • June 21st to June 25th, 2010 – 3:15 p.m to 9:00 p.m,
  • Beginning Saturday, June 26th, 2010 -  1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Staff:

  • Shelby Rowland – Lifeguard/Instructor
  • Emily Tant – New Lifeguard
  • Brittany Rowland and Haley Kimball – Junior Lifeguards

Fees:

  • Family Pass – $150.00 until July 15th. After July 15th – $175.00.
  • Single Pass – $75.00 until July 15th. After July 15th – $100.00.
  • Daily Pass – $4.00 per person/Children under 2 years old – Free.
  • Family Day Pass – $12.00.

Swimming Lessons:

  • Monday, July 19, 2010  to Friday, July 23, 2010
  • Monday, August 2nd to Friday, August 6th.
Lesson Fees:
  • Parents & Tots – $25.00 with pass, $37.00 without pass.
  • Preschool A B C D E – $25.00 with pass, $37.00 without pass.
  • Level 1 – 6  – $30.00 with pass, $42.00 without pass.
  • Bronze Star, Medallion, Cross, NLS as requested.

Aquasize Class for Adults:

Sabrina Quigley will be hosting an Aquasize class for adults.  It will run Monday to Friday at 8:00 am starting Monday, July 5.  This course is free although a season pass or daily fee is required. Call Sabrina at 442-2005 or Pam at 442-4253 to register.

First Farmer’s Market of 2010!

Our first Farmer’s Market of this year was held on Saturday, June 19th, 2010. It turned out to be a very nice sunny day. Quite a few people came out to see the Vendor’s products and to the Barbeque.

There were vendors with books, cd’s , crafts, baking, and garage sale items.

We hope to see you at the Farmer’s Market every Saturday from June to October from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Well summer looks like it is finally here.

The flower pots have been set up at the Gazebo, Park and planters in front of the businesses on Main Street. Each business has planted flowers in their planters,

New Farmer’s Market Signs

Last week the new Farmer’s Market Signs were installed east and west of Pangman on Highway 13. The signs were installed above the Charity Farms signs. Thank you to Charity Farms for allowing us to do that.  Also a big thanks to those who helped put up the signs and to the Economic Development Board for ordering the signs.

We hope to see you at the Farmer’s Market which is on every Saturday from June to October from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

Relay for Life June 18th, 2010

The Relay for Life was held in Ogema, Saskatchewan on June 18th, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19th.

There were nine (9) teams who participated, including our team “Cancer Kicking Militia”. The team dressed up in Military camouflage and decorated their camp with a Military camouflage tent and more.

The first group to walk were the Cancer Survivors, then the members of the various teams started walking. Also there were games that members of the teams played for points. As well, there was entertainment provided during the evening.

Our team raised over $1,000 for the Relay for Life. They would like to thank the community for all their support.

Dan McIntosh of CTV Regina awarded RTNDA Award!

On June 19th, 2010, at the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) National Conference in Edmonton, Dan McIntosh was awarded the Dave Rogers Award for the short feature on CTV Regina entitled “A School Harvest”.

This short feature aired in November 2009 and it focused on Charity Farms, a group of local farmers from Pangman and area who planted, grew, harvested and sold the grain as a fundraiser for the Pangman School.

Congratulations to Dan McIntosh, the CTV Regina team and Charity Farms.
