100 years RM of Norton PO Box 189 Pangman, SK S0C 2C0 CANADAUPDATE July 24, 2010:
Plans are underway for the 100 Year Celebration in August, 2011. With the letters that have gone out and the local mail drop we have about 1,000 people that have been asked to “Save the Date”.
We are looking for volunteers in any area they feel they can help. We will have a schedule in place for the times and places for involvement.
We will update everyone with a letter with the particulars of the weekend early in 2011. Registrations will begin Friday at noon and the afternoon can be used to visit friends and family. There will be a large tent in place just outside the school gym that will have lots of room for visiting. We will also utilize the Community Centre on Main Street in Pangman as a Visitors Pavilion. Friday evening will be our Opening time together in the Pangman Gym with some special guests bringing greetings to our Celebrations. We will introduce the Homecoming Queens of the weekend and we hope to have some of the talent from our past bring us some good “old time music” – so dust off those instruments and have them tuned.
There are RV lots in the Pangman Park with electricity, water and sewer. There are also a number of spots up along side of the pool with no services but lots of room to park a RV. We have secured a number of rooms in the Ogema Motel for the week-end. Call 306-459-2455 to reserve your room.
Saturday will be a big day with breakfast, Farmer’s Market on Main Street, Parade, Pool Activities all afternoon with the evening meal at the Pangman School Gym/Community Kitchen. The evening will feature a silent auction, a cabaret and the crowning of the Homecoming Queen.
Sunday will be an interdenominational church service in the morning followed by a brunch. Sunday afternoon will have the various communities hosting the events for their areas and Amulet will have their Annual Heritage Community Picnic with a Potluck Supper at 5:00 p.m.
It will be a very great weekend for everyone who can join us.
